The Ca Tam Oil Field is located in Block 09-3/12, situated to the east of the Bach Ho and Rong fields. It is approximately 15 km southeast of the nearest offshore structure of the Bạch Hổ field, BK-14, and about 16.5 km northeast of the nearest structure of the Rồng field, RP-2. The field is approximately 150 km east-southeast of Vung Tau city. Discovered by the CT-2X well in 2014, the field has yielded commercial oil flow from the Oligocene D reservoir. As of now, a total of 10 exploration/appraisal and production wells have been drilled within the field area. In September 2012, the petroleum contract for Block 09-3/12 was signed between Petrovietnam and contractors LD "Vietsovpetro" (55%), PVEP (35%), and Bitexco Group (15%), with LD "Vietsovpetro" as the operator. Production from the Ca Tam Field commenced on January 25, 2019. The cumulative oil production as of July 1, 2019, reached 221.5 thousand tons, with 40.6 thousand tons from the underlying Miocene and 180.9 thousand tons from the Oligocene D. The remaining recoverable oil reserves of the Ca Tam Field are estimated at 5,835.5 thousand tons.
